The author is surprised to find that Stravinsky is not a perfect pitch possessor. This seems to imply that, for him, it is normal to expect the ability to be present among major composers and conductors. Since Craft is a conductor, and since he certainly considers himself a major one, I think it is legitimate to assume that he himself possess perfect pitch (I concede this is a dubious syllogism) - Ed. |
